Membership Categories

The categories of Membership of the British Society of Periodontology have recently been revised with the aim of simplifying the system. This has been made even more necessary following the decision by the EFP to insist that all members receive the Journal of Clinical Periodontology (JCP) in electronic form. Clearly many members will wish to continue receiving 'paper' copies of the journal as well.

Membership of the Society is open to medically or dentally qualified persons whose names appear in the Medical or Dental Registers of the United Kingdom, and to medically or dentally qualified members of overseas societies who receive the Journal of Clinical Periodontology through that Society. Associate membership is open to UK Dental Undergraduates (as well as members of Societies affiliated to the EFP) and also to members of the British Dental Hygienists' Association and members of the British Dental Therapists' Association.

The Journal is published on a monthly basis by Blackwell - Munksgaard and contains original scientific papers covering all aspects of Periodontology.

New dental graduates can join the BSP at a reduced rate for the first four years after graduation. The four year period begins from the time they are entered onto the GDC register or from when they passed IQE or equivalent.
