A note from our President...
I was very pleased to be able to talk and represent BSP (alongside Nicola West and Iain Chapple) at the BSDHT Oral Health Conference this week.
As you can see below, we still have one more fantastic webinar lined up this year, alongside our ECG Masterclass in January.
Whilst on the subject of Conferences, please don't forget that the closing date for early bird applications for BSP 2020 runs out soon. So, if you haven't registered, please do so very soon, before that post-Christmas credit card bill and GDC direct debit kicks in!!!
Alongside our educational activities BSP also provides several Awards and Prizes, and these offer financial support and recognition in a number of areas. Three of these Awards (Clinical Fellowship – up to £4000, Research Grant – up to £5000, and Frank Ashley Undergraduate Prize £500) have a closing deadline of 1st January, so if you had not planned to apply (or if you had…), there is still time to get your application together and submitted in time.
We recently held our BSP Strategic Planning meeting where we reviewed various processes in our operations, the direction of growth for BSP, and provision of support and training for clinicians at all stages of their careers. We also hope to further work with our patient Forum and other relevant parties to help both professionals and patients. There will be more news around these activities soon.
Finally, I must pay tribute and express thanks to Phil Ower on his retirement for all that he has done for periodontology in the UK. His clinical and teaching excellence, enthusiasm and focus has had a positive impact on the whole profession and without doubt helped improve the oral health of many patients.
