Ian is a Specialist Periodontist based in Liverpool and Wilmslow. He is the former teaching lead in Periodontics and Senior Clinical Teacher in Periodontics at Liverpool University and lectures around the UK with Phil Ower and the PerioCourses team. 

Ms Jo Dickinson

Jo qualified as a dental hygienist from Leeds in 1988 and she currently works in a mixed referral practice in Crewe.  She has additional qualifications in teaching, mentoring, counselling and smoking cessation.

In 2014 she was awarded overall winner of the Most Outstanding Dental Team Member at the UK Dentistry Awards and  UK Dental Hygienist of the year in 2015 at the UK Dental Awards.

Webinar - Minimally Invasive Periodontal Management

Aims

To discuss the evidence behind minimally invasive periodontal and implant care; and the need for more focus on biofilm disruption and host response modification. Additionally to demonstrate different methods of MI perio care during NST and during the maintenance phase.

Objectives

At the end of the presentation the delegates can be expected to:
1. Be familiar with the current concepts in periodontal disease aetiology 
2. Be familiar with the literature that supports a less aggressive treatment of the root surface. 
3. Look at the important risk factors to identify and try and control. 
4. Load and use a powder delivery system for periodontal pockets and around implants.
5. Identify the different powders on the market and their associated uses
6. Select from a variety of ultrasonic tips and utilise to maximum effect around implants and within periodontal pockets
7. Identify which powered scalers are capable of delivering cavitation
8 describe the benefits of micro streaming and cavitation
