Webinar - Successful Periodontal Treatment – Rethinking the role of the patient

Abstract

Health of soft tissues around teeth (and dental implants) is now even more important as more people keep their teeth in older age and use of dental implant increases. Irrespective of the skills of the clinician (dentist, periodontist or hygienist) the long-term success of treatment depends on patient’s ability to maintain optimum plaque control.

Aims

  • Choose the correct ‘tools’ to help patient achieve the goal of optimum plaque control
  • Use different methods to individualise plaque control methods
  • Organise ways in which patients perform plaque control with minimum effort

Objectives

  • Define periodontal health goals
  • Appreciate different views of how people are motivated
  • The speaker will discuss what has been successful and what has failed to work in his daily practice.

Outcomes

  • GDC Development Outcomes A & C
