Chief Dental Officer England Vacancy Live

The Chief of Staff and Head of Professional Leadership Medical Directorate NHS England, Sarah Marsh, has announced that the vacancy for Chief Dental Officer England is now live. The Chief Dental Officer is the national professional lead for oral health strategy and dental care in England.

The role holds national responsibility for clinical dental care policy and standards for oral health and dentistry with a focus on integration of oral health across the health care system to improve outcome for patients. The postholder has a statutory responsibility to provide senior clinical oversight and leadership to bring greater consistency, greater clinical engagement and a more system wide approach to further improve NHS dental services and oral health.

The Chief Dental Officer plays a pivotal role in the Medical Directorate, as well as a cross sector role, supporting the Department of Health and Social Care, the Privy Council and other Government departments such as DEFRA and DfE, providing evidence-based policy and advice, guidance, and direction for the clinical standards of commissioned services, oral health promotion, regulation and professional standards, education and training of a dental workforce in support of population health improvement.
