Course Presenter
The ECG Masterclass course will be presented by Dr Boota Ubhi.

Course overview
This interactive masterclass introduces participants to the fundamental principles and practical techniques of mucogingival surgery around natural teeth. Through a blend of focused theory and guided hands-on exercises, delegates will explore the biological rationale, flap designs, and grafting procedures used to correct soft-tissue defects, enhance aesthetics, and improve long-term periodontal stability.
Participants will gain confidence in case selection, surgical planning, and soft-tissue handling — with emphasis on evidence-based protocols and microsurgical precision. Ideal for early-career periodontists and practitioners with an interest in soft-tissue management, this session bridges the gap between theory and clinical application in a supportive, hands-on environment.
The course is suitable for the dental team, including both dentists with an interest in periodontology, dental hygienists and dental therapists.

To provide delegates with a sound theoretical understanding of mucogingival surgery, its indications, and biological basis.
To develop practical skills in flap design, graft harvesting, and suturing for soft-tissue augmentation and root coverage.
To encourage evidence-based decision-making and clinical confidence in performing mucogingival procedures.
To promote understanding of the role of soft-tissue management in achieving long-term periodontal and implant success.
Describe the biological principles and indications for mucogingival surgery.
Identify different surgical techniques (e.g., coronally advanced flap, FGG, CTG) and their clinical applications.
Select appropriate cases and plan soft-tissue procedures with predictable outcomes.
Perform basic mucogingival surgical steps on models or pig heads under supervision.
Recognise and manage common intra-operative and post-operative complications.
Apply evidence-based decision-making to improve patient outcomes in soft-tissue management.
