A note from our President…

The month of April has flown by. Despite the business of work, I managed to squeeze in a site visit to Edinburgh with Paula and the BSDHT team. We visited the EICC and the Signet Library and were extremely impressed by both venues. Their impressive facilities, the friendliness of the staff and the exceptional catering will ensure a wonderful experience for our delegates at The Oral Health Summit.

Our excitement is now building for this special joint event and we have started counting down the weeks. If you haven’t already booked your ticket, make sure you take advantage of the early bird rate and register before 27th June!

Looking ahead, May will be a similarly busy month.

On 12th May we will be celebrating Gum Health Day with the slogan, "Gums rock! Keep smiling!”  As detailed in the newsletter, there are many ways to get involved and promote this important campaign. We are also running an amazing competition with six chances to win. Each winner will receive a ticket to attend The Oral Health Summit in Edinburgh 27-29 November 2025. In addition, two of the prizes are kindly sponsored by Philips and Straumann and the winners of the sponsored awards also receive an additional gift from the sponsoring company. It is definitely worth taking part!

I will be in the wonderful city of Vienna from 14th – 17th May attending EuroPerio11, the world’s leading periodontology congress. We are expecting the largest number of participants to convene in Austria to hear the world’s leading experts in periodontology and implant dentistry. EP11 is the ideal place to meet friends and colleagues and exchange the latest information. There is still time to register and I also hope to see many of you in Vienna.

Lastly, for the members who have been asking about Bertie, my golden retriever, I can report that he is waking earlier for his morning walk due to the lighter mornings. I must admit that I do love our early morning stroll, listening to the birds’ morning song and watching the woodland foliage awaken. The lighter evenings also allow me time to garden after work, much to Bertie’s delight who thinks my intention is to play ball rather than tend to the flowers!

I hope that you enjoy the warmer weather as we approach summer and I wish you all a super month ahead!
