A note from our President…

A huge thank you to everyone who supported The Oral Health Summit in Edinburgh. It was wonderful to bring our community together under one roof, to enjoy the scientific programme and to share our collective passion for periodontology. We have been overwhelmed by the amount of positive feedback received.

As we approach the end of the year, I am sure many of you, like me, are wondering where the time has gone. Rather than winding down, the BSP team remains extremely busy, liaising with stakeholders and working hard to complete ongoing projects. Some initiatives will continue into next year, including the publication of the BSP Dentine Hypersensitivity Clinical Practice Guideline. This paper, which will appear in Perio 2000, will be accompanied by an educational webinar and a suite of professional and patient resources to support our members and the wider dental profession in interpreting and implementing the guidance.

Earlier this month, we held our final BSP Council meeting of the year, during which I officially handed over the BSP Presidential Chain to Dr Paul Baker. I am confident that Paul will do an excellent job leading the Society in 2026, supported by our outstanding Council members and senior leadership team.

I will share a final letter with the membership later this week but, in the meantime, I want to express my heartfelt thanks for granting me the honour of serving as your President this year. It has truly been a highlight of my career and I will always cherish the memories.

I hope you are all able to take a well-deserved break from work and caring for your patients and enjoy some relaxing time with family and friends over the holiday period.

Best wishes

Nicola
