BSP Welcomes New Chair of the Undergraduate Group

We are delighted to announce that Nacy Rock, a dental student from the University of Dundee, has been appointed as the new Chair of the BSP Undergraduate Group. Nacy takes over from Gamze Eroglu, who has done a fantastic job leading the group over the past three years. We thank Gamze for her dedication and valuable contributions.

“I am very much looking forward to leading the BSP Undergraduate Group. Leadership to me is not about holding a title, but about serving a purpose to nurture growth, uplift others and inspire students to make a meaningful difference with gum health. True leadership is grounded in kindness, integrity, and passion, fostering patient trust and confidence through excellent care. It lies in empowering and uniting others through compassion, inclusion, and a shared commitment to excellence.” – Nacy Rock

Supporting undergraduate students has been a strategic priority for the BSP since 2019, with the aim of helping them develop their knowledge and passion for periodontology and implant dentistry. Our broader mission is to support all members throughout their professional journey, from early career to retirement.

Each year, we invite every Dental and Hygiene Therapy School in the UK to appoint:

  • 2 Dental Students
  • 1 Hygiene/Therapy Student

These representatives serve as BSP Undergraduate Representatives, playing a vital role in connecting the Society with the student body at their institutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Representing BSP undergraduate members at your Dental School
  • Receiving updates from the Chair of the Undergraduate Group
  • Attending and contributing to online Undergraduate Group meetings
  • Promoting BSP membership and encouraging peers to join
  • Sharing BSP news and events via bulletin boards and social media
  • Liaising with your school's Perio Lead
  • Raising awareness of periodontology among fellow students
  • Contributing news or content to the BSP newsletter and social media via the BSP Management Team

We’re excited to collaborate with this new generation of professionals and support their involvement in initiatives that promote awareness and understanding of periodontology and implant dentistry within their university communities.

Welcome, Nacy — we look forward to an inspiring year ahead!
