Gum Health Day: Empowering Lives

On 12 May we will be joining National Periodontal Societies worldwide to celebrate Gum Health Day. The European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) has launched a new three-year awareness initiative under the motto “Gum Health Day: Empowering Lives.” In 2026, the campaign focuses on knowledge - empowering people through information and increased awareness.

This global initiative aims to bring oral health to the forefront of the public health conversation, encouraging individuals to take control of their overall wellbeing. It highlights the importance of healthy gums, promotes early action at the first signs of disease, and encourages prevention as part of everyday life.

Alongside public engagement activities and awareness-raising via our website (bsperio.org.uk/patients/gum-health-day-2026 ), the BSP will also be running a competition for dental professionals. More information coming soon!
