BSP & SRRDG Study Day

11.07.2026

The Library, Royal College of Surgeons of England, 38-43 Lincoln's Inn Fields, London WC2A 3PE

The BSP is collaborating with the SRRDG (Specialist Registrars in Restorative Dentistry Group) to provide a high quality study day in Central London at the Royal College of Surgeons, England.

There are a limited number of tickets for this event. It will involve lectures and interactive case discussions with a primary focus on Periodontics as well as Restorative/Implant Dentistry input.

The day will be led by three specialists across Restorative Dentistry and Periodontics and will provide valuable discussion points which will be of benefit for trainees coming to the final stages of their specialist training who may be sitting exams soon, early career specialists/dentists with a special interest and early career trainees (DFTs, DCTs) looking to specialise, who would like exposure to complex treatment planning and theory.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day, together with a light buffet lunch.

You don’t need to know anyone to book on the course - the BSP and SRRDG are friendly and inclusive Societies!

Saturday 11th July 2026

Talks

Aims

To give the clinician the clinician theoretical and practical knowledge to manage some challenging scenarios normally present in advanced stages of periodontal disease.

Objectives

  1. Understanding the complexity associated with advanced periodontal cases.

  2. Understanding the different treatment modalities available to manage challenging scenarios.

  3. The valuable input of considering a multidisciplinary approach.

Outcomes

  1. Examination of the severely affected periodontal patient.

  2. Periodontal and restorative considerations of the severely affected periodontal patient.

  3. Advanced periodontal techniques to manage advanced periodontal cases such as resective/regenerative periodontal surgery, crown lengthening and mucogingival aesthetic surgery.

  4. Multidisciplinary team work.

Aims

  • To provide a structured framework for planning and delivering full-arch implant rehabilitation in the periodontally compromised patient, with emphasis on clinical decision-making, prosthesis design, and long-term maintenance.

Objectives

  • Identify appropriate treatment options for the rehabilitation of edentulous and near-edentulous periodontal patients.

  • Apply the Misch Implant Prostheses Classification to guide prosthetic planning and case selection in full-arch implant rehabilitation.

  • Compare fixed full-arch implant bridges and removable implant overdentures, and select appropriate prosthetic solutions based on individual patient factors.

  • Develop structured treatment plans that balance biological and mechanical risk, prosthetic complexity, patient expectations, and long-term maintenance.

  • Select suitable overdenture attachment systems and baseplate designs, understanding the clinical implications of bars versus free-standing attachments.

  • Understand prosthetic workflows for fixed full-arch implant bridges and removable implant overdentures from planning through delivery.

  • Recognise the importance of ongoing maintenance and monitoring in reducing biological and mechanical complications in full-arch implant prostheses.

Outcomes

At the end of the lecture you will be able to:

  • Confidently justify prosthetic treatment choices for full-arch implant rehabilitation.

  • Decide when a fixed full-arch implant bridge is appropriate and when a removable implant overdenture represents a safer and more predictable option.

  • Apply prosthetic classifications and planning principles to minimise biological and mechanical complications.

  • Select overdenture attachment systems and prosthetic designs that support peri-implant health and long-term maintainability.

  • Plan and communicate clear, structured prosthetic workflows for both fixed and removable full-arch implant rehabilitations.

  • Implement practical maintenance protocols tailored to high-risk periodontal patients with full-arch implant prostheses.
